Why I’m excited for Ubisoft Connect

Ubisoft announced that uPlay was going to be changing to Ubisoft Connect, which on the face of things may not mean much to people however when you look into what it means, it looks like it could be a good system to use for Ubisofts games.

Ubisoft announced that Ubisoft connect would “Ubisoft Connect will be the new universal home for all Ubisoft in-game services, activities, and communities on all platforms. Everything you’ve used Uplay and Ubisoft Club for in the past will be refreshed, expanded, and merged into Ubisoft Connect starting October 29, which coincides with the launch of Watch Dogs: Legion.”

The service is going to be integrated into all upcoming Ubisoft games as well as some older games such as Assassins Creed Odyssey and The Division 2. What excites me most about this new system is the cross-platform progression save. So I can be playing Watchdogs Legion on my Xbox and say if my wife needs the TV, I can easily switch over to my Ubisoft connect on my laptop and use my copy of Watchdogs Legion from uPlay+ and carry on right where I left off.

Other things that will be included are social integrations, so you can link Xbox, PC, Playstation etc to your connect account and see what you’re friends are doing and see stats. Also, the rewards you used to be able to unlock in uPlay will still be there, and Ubisoft has said that any Legacy items will be unlocked for free for people to use in-game, and they said this will amount to around 1000 items spread over the different games.

I do have one question that I would like answering and hopefully this will get answered before it launches, but what happens if I am playing Assassins Creed Valhalla on my Xbox Series S which is only the base game at the moment, but my uPlay+ account has the ultimate edition which is standard for the service, how will the game progression work that way? Will the system see that I am only able to play the base game on Xbox so uPlay+ will limit me to the content I can use, going against the service I’ve subscribed too?

I am looking forward to linking this up and trying it next week when it launches alongside Watchdogs Legion and ill have full coverage of that and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla when they launch
