My Views on PS5 Showcase (16/09)

I must admit that the game of cat and mouse to who was going to reveal their prices for the next gen consoles was getting a little old, people we’re getting irritated at no news which sprung rumours of delays etc.

Then Xbox went first, and I have to admit that I am super excited for what Xbox has to offer next gen, but I am not here to talk Xbox, I’m here to discuss the showcase that Sony held tonight. Finally, Sony has announced the price for the next gen consoles, with the disk version at £449 and the digital version £359 these are very competitive prices for next gen consoles, and will more than likely make a lot of people happy.

Now, games, this is what we get consoles for right? I have to admit that there were a good few games on here that got me excited, Spider-man: Miles Morales – It was nice to see some gameplay and a sequence from it. It’s nice to see the familiarity with the first Spiderman game, but also freshen up with a new story, and if you know me, you know I love my Marvel.

Hogwarts Legacy also looked a very pretty game and it was finally nice to see it announced, I am very much looking forward to getting to play this next year, as is my wife. Who has watched the trailer several times since it broadcast. 😀

The new Final Fantasy game was a nice addition, I’ve never really been a fan of the series, but played through the 7 remake and enjoyed it, I liked the combat and how it had been done. If the combat and style is similar then I may try this out.

We had a glimpse at one of the campaign missions in the new Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War and if its anything like Modern Warfare’s campaign, people are going to in for a treat, and as a bonus PS4 owners will be able to play the Multiplayer Alpha this weekend and will be able to pre download it from the PS Store tomorrow (17/09) in readiness.

Demon Souls remake looked beautiful, but it’s not a game for me, I appreciate my controllers too much and the difficulty of these games just isn’t fun in my honest opinion. It’s good for folks who will enjoy them, but it’s not for me.

Another bonus that I didn’t see coming was the PS+ Collection. An exclusive benefit to PS+ members on PS5 where you will be able to download and play selected PS4 games at no extra cost. This looks to be Sony trying to get a more benefits out of PS+ to match with what Xbox is doing with Games Pass, and for me, I’m all for it, if it’s beneficial to the consumer and doesn’t add further costs, go for it!

One last thing I can’t leave out is the teaser at the end for God of War: Ragnarok! BOOOOOYYYY

The showcase was very good, and it has me even more excited for next gen, in terms of console to pre order now that everything is out on the table, it’s going to come down to what exclusives will Sony have as launch titles. Spiderman Miles Morales – I’ll probably be all over that, Xbox won’t have anything solid that I would want to play probably till next year, so if there are a few exclusives in there to play of Sony’s, then game on!
