Call of Duty : Ghosts – Nemesis DLC
This review is based on the Multiplayer aspect of the pack – I haven’t tried the Extinction episode yet
Nemesis is the last of the 4 DLC packs to be released for Call of Duty: Ghosts. A lot of people know my feelings on this game and will have read my review from the Wii U version.
This DLC review is done from the Xbox One version of the game. Nemesis DLC brings with it 4 maps – Goldrush, Subzero, Dynasty and Showtime (Re-imaged take on Shipment from CoD 4)
Goldrush is based in an abandoned Gold Mine in the USA. This is my favourite map out of the pack, I love the style and the design to this map and love how it flows around. The main focus for this map is a mine cart that flies around, where people can jump in and take others by surprise… Or be surprised themselves 😀
This is a map that will suit both CQC (Close Quarters Combat) and Long Range as there are narrow tunnels to run through as well as long stretches and sight lines that will suit Snipers! There are lots of varying levels which you will have to be careful of as anyone can get you from above or down below, and if they’re above, watch out for them dropping down and knifing you.
I thoroughly enjoy this map, and find it the better of the 4 in the pack.
Dynasty is based in a Chinese Lakeside Village. Its a beautifully designed map and depicts what a small Chinese village would be like. Again this map has something for everyone, whether it be CQC or Long Range, and its the same as Gold Rush in that it has many varying levels. You can fight down in the sewer area, through the buildings, or make your way round the closed narrow streets. If you are running around the streets, you have to be aware of people at windows because they can just pop out at you!
One little feature i love as well, is the dancing chickens. Not sure if they are meant to be dancing, but that’s what it looked like to me! Loved it!
SubZero is based in a Canadian Submarine base. This was my least favourite map in the pack. I’m not sure why, I think it was one of those maps that I couldn’t get to grips with. You can usually tell if you’re going to like a map or not, and for me, I didn’t get the feel for this map.
There’s lots of different rooms and buildings to go through as well as narrow corridors! From the games I’ve played on this map there does seem to be a focal point of one building where people tend to take the fight. Its got lots of corners and bends to defend as well as a big open room that you could attack with buddies.
Showtime is a re-imaged map based on the Call of Duty 4 map “Shipment”. My first impressions of this map, as I never got to play the original design, was that its small… Very small… There is always someone around every corner, so you have to be on your toes and ready at all times when playing this map. I learned very quickly for that reason, I found it best to run with an SMG or a shotgun…. More for surprise blind shooting than anything else! #GoJoon
Once you get used to the map, it’s a decent map, but like I said, you have to be on your toes.
There are a couple of other things I wanted to bring up, which I might have brought up in the original review, but are still quite apt here. Will we ever have a game where I don’t get killed by bending bullets? The amount of times I’ve been killed from walking behind a wall is unreal!
I did find glitches in the game, such as a body floating over the stairs, when in reality, he should have rolled down the stairs or been sprawled over them.
Overall, I feel this was a strong map pack, however it still suffers from the same Call of Duty Syndrome that other packs and the main game suffer from. Mainly spawns and being killed around corners!
